It's absolutely terrible, like watching a movie with someone in the same room as you playing a cd , or watching a movie from 1940 with the volume turned up way to loud while you try to listen to the dialogue! I thought it was good, but then suddenly it wasn't, Decent start, ridiculous deterioration of quality. Nothing to watch here, apart for Highdee Kuan. A few hoaky scenes, but overall, decent. I found this movie entertaining. This kind of matter, involving abductions and alien's contacts, are pretty known to everyone that likes it. While the movie finds Tom Hanks' Commander Ernest Krause and the convoy caught up in the Battle of the Atlantic over a five-day period in the latter part of 1942, the battle actually spanned almost the entirety of the war, beginning on September 3, 1939 and ending on May 8, 1945. I have never seen a movie where 50% is honestly good and the other 50% is film-school horrible. You might love the new Carey Mulligan movie Promising Young Woman. You might hate it. really!!! The movie’s reminiscent of gritty yet flashy Michael Mann films of the 80’s, but was a breath of fresh air to film fans when it debuted in 2011. While the two halves don’t necessarily flow together smoothly, with the switch occurring rather abruptly via an edit, you’ll be quickly won over with what becomes a highly entertaining nostalgia-tinged adventure. This film is kind of a fascinating trainwreck of someone who was trying to be Spielberg but also wanted to be John Hughes. Gideon58's Reviews 5 hours ago by Wyldesyde19. Proximity wears its old-school sci-fi heart on its sleeve, beginning with the Close Encounters-quoting pow of an opening and flipping through a catalog of movie … External Reviews A young NASA JPL scientist is abducted by extraterrestrials but when no one believes his story he becomes obsessed with finding proof which leads him on a journey of discovery. Very well shot! Have you seen the black circle around the green of her eyes? I was actually enjoying this movie and thought it was a cool little indie sci-fi film until it turned into religious nonsense. The point of the nearly two hours becomes clear at the end and, for me, destroys the movie: Well done! But one thing seems almost certain: You will have strong feelings about its ending. Complimenting orchestral score is a selection of 1980s style synth-heavy songs that offer a nice little respite from the more bombastic elements of the music while also serving as a nice compliment to the film’s more emotional character moments while also allowing me to indulge in some blatant 1980s nostalgia. If there is one area in which the film excels above all else, it’s in the visual effects, with the CGI on display managing to rival the shiniest efforts of the big Hollywood epics. Hope this helps you decide. And music playing completely inappropriate to the scene on screen , it's a shame it completely destroyed any chance of liking this movie . I watched this with my husband and our 10 in a half year old daughter and our almost 9 year old son. The acting was nice, the effecs was good, and I really liked the pacing. Proximity is a sympathetic teen flick fiction movie. I do agree that could have been written a bit different. Proximity’s story for the first half is very much your classic UFO encounter/abduction story in the mould of Close Encounters in which our hero is abducted by aliens after capturing video evidence and attempts to prove it to a sceptical world. The performances from the film’s cast are solid throughout, with Ryan Mason’s as Isaac especially standing out, his sometimes awkward and reserved performance working to create a sympathetic character who is easy to get behind, his gradual transformation into from ostracised science nerd into physic power-wielding hero being great fun to watch and wonderfully performed by Mason. | Aliens have been interested in humans for centuries because they want to learn more about Jesus. Directed by Eric Demeusy. Even Rolling Stone mentioned the visuals to be on par with a Hollywood million dollar budget. The photography is fine, the dialogue is above average, the acting solid. Then you fall into androids, religious motive and super heroes kind of powers. The acting is good, the effects are well done and believable and the story, for the most part, is interesting and scientifically accurate. Acting was decent. This story has a good approach of what could happen to abducted people, and the trama is nice. I really enjoyed this movie. what a total let down a great way to spoil a movie and leave a nasty after taste. The story does have a few shortcomings with some plot threads, such as a personal connection between an abductee and the villainous Agent Graves, or Issac developing psychic abilities following his abduction, feeling underdeveloped and usually brought up only when it’s convenient to the plot or as a sudden reveal in the climax. So all-in-all - great B-category movie and spoiler alert - do not waste your precious time if you are excited on Avenger stuff .. this flick is not for you! Awards Just a few words to tell you what to expect if you're thinking about giving this a try. The acting was stale and boring - probably from the lack of direction by Demeusy. After third time, you'll get on board and that is not a bad thing - there are so many tacky simple things, that feel so good, but are lost in our current online life. I really enjoyed this! Okay it was a watchable yarn, but that's all it was. 1 The Village (2004) The Village has one of the worst plot twists ever, Even by Shyamalan standards, the end of The Village is ludicrous. While it’s hardly the most original plot, the film attempts to update to this familiar premise for the social media age in which these kinds of stories of alien abduction, even when presented with evidence, is met with derision and mockery by the cynical sceptics lurking in the comments section or cable news. We break down the ending of The Hunt and explain how the film isn't really targeted against the left-wing or the right-wing. One particular twist that the aliens are keen to find a certain “someone” is one that is bound to raise a few eyebrows due to its sheer weirdness. It's different. A whole lot of nothing - 119 min to be exact, that felt like an eternity with the ridiculously slow pacing. We’ve always wondered about whether or not we are alone in the universe and many of us have heard many a tale told by those (who often smell suspiciously of rum) that claim to have met or been abducted by beings from beyond the stars. Jesus!....It Could Have Been So Much Better! Just seen a movie? The god botherers have had a damn good go at wrecking rock, country music which has often been subjected to monotheistic drivel was tolerable once the superstitious tried & failed to force others around to their point of view, but trying to exploit scifi, a medium which has always encouraged free thinking, to toe the xtian line in the way "Proximity" has, is truly beyond the pale. Loved the music and the two leads had a very natural chemistry. It was cheesy - MIB guys, seriously?, the music and score were ridiculous - annoying and out of place, as was the "I-cant-decide-what-this-film-is-going-to-be-about" writing. It's not exactly a 10/10 movie (more like 6/10 and against all haters, I had to give more), but it's still a curious flick. An OK Beginning, Mediocre Middle, Garbage Ending. I enjoyed it right until the big climactic ending. The movie utilizes some complicated special effects like Android robots. Look as hard as you might, these saucers have no strings. It’s well that film-makers have drunk from for decades, producing beloved classics like Close Encounters of the Third Kind one end and slightly less fondly remembered misfires such as The Fourth Kind on the other. Listen to trailer music, OST, original score, and the full list of popular songs in the film. Not deserving of anything less, because filmmakers have to start somewhere, right? I know for a fact our 18 year old will love this movie! The film’s music is an impressive creation, boasting an adventurous orchestral score that feels like a loving tribute to the work of John Williams, sounding like something that wouldn’t be out of place in an Indiana Jones or Star Wars. | The FX are really good for such a small budget movie. This brings me to the focus of today’s review, the sci-fi adventure Proximity, a pleasant surprise of a film that I couldn’t help but be amazed by. In that movie, which is set long after the events of Captain Marvel, Ronan the Accuser is an outcast, Kree extremist rather than the Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire. It's still bearable until the men in black and the stormtroopers arrive and then it descends into a zero budget student movie with an unapologetic hijacking of science by religious twaddle. Joe Deacon (Washington) is a disgraced former L.A. cop who now works in Bakersfield, living alone on the edge of society. | G eneral Movie Discussion. I finally signed up to IMDB just to review this. I feel completely comfortable showing this to our other kids for a thrill and exciting ending. Scriber as fellow abductee Carl, in particular, is one I would have loved to see more of, with the character coming across like a blending of a sci-fi Grizzly Adams blessed the inventing skills of McGuyver (the man managed to build a working alien translator in a cabin for Christ’s sake).
